Dear Parents and Guardians,
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Tabatha White and I am your new Parent School Community Specialist here at Compton-Drew Investigative Learning Center Middle School. I have an Undergraduate Degree in Urban Education and a Masters Degree in School Counseling. I have been working with children here at Compton-Drew for the past 10 years in various capacities and it has been a wonderful and rewarding experience. I am pleased and honored to serve at such a great institution of learning. I also volunteer with various organizations within the community.
As your Parent School Community Specialist, my role will be instrumental in improving student attendance, developing strong collaborative relationships with parents and families and serve as an integral member of the Student Intervention Team. I am looking forward to an exciting and successful school year and I welcome the opportunity to meet with you at anytime. Please feel free to contact me at (314)652-9282 or by e-mail tabatha.white@slps.org.
Sincerely,
Tabitha White, Community Specialist
Uniform Dress Policy
Research indicates that uniform dress instills pride and promotes unity. We, therefore, require students to wear uniform dress colors every day. Uniform dress colors are a khaki or navy blue bottom (slacks or skirt), and a solid navy blue or solid burgundy top (polo shirt, button-up shirt, T-shirt, or blouse). All shirts must be tucked in and pants must be worn with a belt at the waist. Attire such as sagging pants and tall-tees diminish our pride and self-respect and therefore will not be allowed. Commercial logos and/or graphics are not permitted; however, order forms are available if you wish to purchase shirts with the Compton-Drew logo on them. Any attire that distracts from the academic environment is not appropriate. Hats, purses, jackets, etc. are to remain in the locker during the school day. Athletic shoes are permitted, however, sandals and/or flip-flops are not permitted as they may present a safety hazard.
Classroom Expectations
1. Students will follow all school and classroom rules at all times.
2. Students will be responsible for their own behavior.
3. Students will be quiet, in their seats, and ready to begin before the start of the class period, and will follow all entering and exiting procedures.
4. Students will not be allowed to go back to their lockers for any reason, unless authorized by a teacher.
5. Students will be prepared for class with pen or pencil, paper, and other class related materials.
6. Students will complete and turn in all required work (including homework) for class on time, unless absent or otherwise excused. All missed work must be made up in a timely manner.
7. Students will promptly return all forms that require a parents signature.
8. Students will leave all non-academic items (i.e. gum, toys, electronics, magazines, and other personal items) at home.
9. Students will be responsible for keeping their work area, classroom and school surroundings clean.
10. Students will cooperate with teachers, all adults, and other students in the building.
